CITY OF STARRS was never about creating a “perfect” campaign.
It was about capturing a feeling and community.

A feeling of confidence.
Of women moving through our home city of Liverpool completely in their element  comfortable, connected, and unapologetically themselves.

This campaign was created for real women, in real life, in the city that shaped Lola Starr.

A Liverpool-born activewear brand, rooted in community

Lola Starr is a Liverpool-born, founder-led activewear brand, and community has always been at the heart of everything we do. CITY OF STARRS felt like a natural extension of that bringing together women from our own community and celebrating them exactly as they are.

No professional models.
No forced poses.
Just real women from our community, showing up, laughing, walking, chatting, and owning the moment.

This was activewear designed by women, worn by women, for women.

The city as our canvas

Liverpool isn’t just where we’re based  it’s part of our identity.

From iconic landmarks to quieter corners of the city, we let Liverpool lead the way. The energy, the warmth, the character, it all mirrored the women in front of the camera.

A city full of Starrs.

Using Liverpool as our backdrop wasn’t about aesthetics alone. It was about pride. Pride in where we’re from, in being a women-owned Liverpool business, and in building something meaningful right here.

Women, in their element

The heart of CITY OF STARRS was simple:
women feeling confident & great in their own skin.

You could feel it throughout the day, the ease of wearing activewear that doesn’t need adjusting, hiding, or fixing. High-waisted enough to shape and support, without feeling restrictive. Pieces that move with your body, not against it.

Our customers wore bespoke sets, uniquely branded for them, allowing them to express and promote their own brand while feeling supported in every moment. Leggings designed to move through real life with you, all while staying true to our commitment to sustainability.

This wasn’t about looking a certain way.
It was about feeling a certain way.

For me, that means starting with emotion, not aesthetics. Making sure women feel comfortable, confident, and at ease. Ultimately, I want them to enjoy the shoot and walk away feeling on top of the world, knowing their worth.

Everything else flows from that.

Real movement, real women, real life

Every Lola Starr piece is designed with one question in mind:
How do we want women to feel?

CITY OF STARRS brought that answer to life.

Our UK-made, ethical activewear is created to support real bodies and real movement  whether that’s training, walking the city, meeting friends, or simply living your everyday life.

This is sustainable, confidence-boosting activewear made for women who want to feel good, not restricted.

A day in the city

These amazing women walked through the city simply enjoying being exactly where they were.

We started the day at Limitless Gym, owned by co-founders Levi and Alex, capturing gym and active shots in a space that truly reflects strength, movement, and community. It felt real, grounded, and perfectly aligned with what Lola Starr stands for.

From there, we crossed over to the Municipal Hotel for a few more aesthetic moments  a change of pace, a different energy, before heading down Dale Street and onto Castle Street.

It was the 29th of August, the sun was shining, and around 5pm the city was starting to buzz. Streets filling up with people heading out for Friday evening drinks and food. Castle Street, closed off to cars and lined with beautiful restaurants and bars, felt alive, think  'Stayin Alive' vibes.

As we walked through, our photographer and videographer snapping away, something just clicked. A few takes in and, honestly… it hit me. This was one of those moments I’ll always remember. A massively proud moment for myself.

We carried on towards the Pier Head, heading for the iconic Liver Buildings for the finale. Along the way, a couple more women from our community joined us, to become part of the final shots.

By the time we reached the waterfront, the wind had picked up and it had turned a little chilly, but no one cared. The energy was there. The connection was there.

The finale — coming together

The finale was always designed to bring everything together.

Women coming from wherever their day had taken them, from work, from the gym, from life, all meeting in one place.

We ran off together, like a running club, side by side along the water front. Different journeys, one shared moment. Women moving forward together.

That moment captured exactly what CITY OF STARRS stands for: connection, community, and women showing up as they are, wherever they are coming from.

The finished campaign is something truly special and everything I dreamed of bringing to life.

Why CITY OF STARRS matters

This campaign is a reminder that confidence doesn’t come from perfection it comes from comfort, connection, and self-belief with-in.
